The 2022 Orbea Optima E40 is more than just a get-around-town bike. With a 20 miles per hour Bosch pedal assist motor and battery pack, you’ll be riding more often, more miles and more enthusiastically.

Commuting to work, making quick trips for dinner or taking a casual ride with friends at the park are what you expect from the average urban pedal assist bicycle. The Orbea Optima E40 is not your average bike, though.

Checking in at about 44 pounds, the Orbea Optima E40 is 15-20 pounds lighter than many bikes in its class. The lightweight aluminum alloy frame is not only efficient, the step through frame and upright design create a comfortable ride for just about everyone. Wide, durable tires create a safe and dependable connection to the road or trail.

The Ebikemotion X35 power train is what makes the Orbea Optima E40 truly exceptional, however. Weighing barely eight pounds, the motor and battery help keep the bike less cumbersome while riding. With a range of 25-60 miles depending on the type of riding you're doing, you’ll be able to enjoy long rides as well as short ones. An available range extender battery pack can be added, mounting much like a water bottle cage, to almost double the number of miles and hours you can ride.

As a pedal assist bike, the Orbea Optima E40 still requires that you be an active participant in your ride. Maxing out at 35K per hour, the motor will not provide more boost than you’re willing to put into it. If you’re not pedaling, the motor is not assisting. This keeps you engaged in the road as well as keeps your body moving even if the bike is helping out.

Outfitted with a Shimano Deore drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes, the Optima E40 can get you moving efficiently and has plenty of stopping power to handle sudden stops.

Fenders and a rear wheel mounted rack add to the functionality. Water spray from the road is kept at a minimum, keeping your clothes clean during work commutes, while the rack can carry bags or load up panniers to extend your cargo load.

Front and rear lights create visibility and increase safety on the road.
